Elon Musk Joins Trump Rally, Calls Him the Last Hope for U.S. Democracy
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk made a surprise appearance at a campaign rally for Republican candidate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he threw his weight behind Trump, declaring him the only candidate capable of safeguarding democracy in the United States.
Joining the former president at the event, Musk, who leads the social media platform X, addressed the crowd in a black “Make America Great Again” cap. “This could be the last election if Trump doesn’t win,” Musk warned, according to AP, adding, “I’m not just MAGA — I’m Dark MAGA.”
This marked Musk’s first time at a Trump rally, underscoring the growing partnership between the tech mogul and the former president in the final phase of a hotly contested presidential race. Musk’s public support for Trump’s campaign also extended to his social media platform, where he changed his profile picture to align with the MAGA movement.
The rally follows a recent high-profile discussion between Trump and Musk on X, during which they engaged in a two-hour conversation on topics such as Trump’s near-fatal assassination attempt in July, immigration reform, and reducing government regulations. The conversation further highlighted Musk’s endorsement of Trump’s vision.
At the rally, Musk presented Trump as a staunch advocate for free speech, claiming Democrats aim to strip citizens of their constitutional rights. “They want to silence you, take away your guns, and undermine your right to vote,” Musk asserted.
The rally took place at the same location where Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt earlier in the year. During his speech, Trump paid tribute to Corey Contempore, a firefighter who was killed during the attempt, and expressed gratitude to the Secret Service for their protection during the harrowing incident.
